snagged these soundcore c40i open ear clips for 52 after the flash drop last month, figured at that price vs the usual 99.99 it was worth testing on my morning rides along the lake. they stay put even when i hit the bumpy parts near north ave beach, sound is clear enough for podcasts without blocking the bike bells and cars around me. the flexible joint thing works better than i expected though the ear grips still feel a tad loose after an hour, battery easily lasts my full 45 min pedal plus the walk to the office. chicago wind didnt rattle them either, pretty happy with the buy for what i paid.

i was pretty skeptical about open ear stuff for bike rides tbh, figured they'd bounce right off on the rough lake path or let too much wind in. but after trying the c40i on my usual 40 min loop they actually surprised me. stayed locked in even through the gravel bits and the support band fixed the slipping i usually get with other ear clips. battery held up fine too. ended up ordering a second pair for backup.

second pair showed up last week gifted them to my buddy who does that exact lakefront ride every am. he was on the fence about open clips vs his old in ears but after one commute he said hearing the cars and gulls is actually better. trusts this site enough that i just ordered without checking prices elsewhere. already recommended to two other friends who bike the same stretch
